Why we give at Sun Valley

Giving isn't about the church's budget - it's about your heart. Take a few minutes and hear Pastor Chad explain why giving is one of the most important steps in following Jesus.

Tithing

The Bible teaches us to give first, save second, and live on the rest. When we give first it honors God, saving second builds wealth, and living on the rest teaches us contentment. There's only one place in the Bible where God told His followers to test Him regarding their giving.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
Malachi 3:10

Honors God

Giving first is an act of trust - it declares that God is the source of everything we have.

Can I donate inherited stock?
Yes. Inherited stock may be donated immediately, even if you've owned it for less than one year.

Under IRS rules, inherited assets automatically receive a long-term holding period. This means inherited stock is treated as a long-term asset from the date you inherit it for purposes such as charitable contributions, capital gains, and transfers to Donor-Advised Funds.
