Project Connect

About 8,000 homeless men, women and children are in Maricopa County. Sun Valley is teaming with the United Way to tackle this issue.

Project Connect is a large event to serve and help the homeless get access to services they would not otherwise find on their own. They will get resources to enable them to start the journey back to health, financial stability, and housing.

Volunteers serve as "Guest Guides" to the homeless at this event and assist them in filling out an initial intake form and then escort them to the different service providers based on the guest's needs. Service provided will include: Community Bridges (drug rehab), emergency shelters, employment services, DES (Dept of Economic Security), Community Voice Mail, public housing and more.

Guest Guides (volunteers) provide personal, caring help as the Guest receives various services. Guests are also given opportunity to take showers, get haircuts and receive clothing. Guests are also given a bus pass and lunch. Both Guests and Guides have a rewarding experience. Great for individuals, families or small groups!

Children under age 18 are welcome to participate if accompanied by a parent. If you are interested in volunteering at the next Project Connect please contact Donny Granado at donman4976@yahoo.com.
